What, we have to bath outside our home?
Don't worry, it's fine there is something even better!
We can't just leave you guys without having to bath or to go to the toilet, but in Pompeii things are a bit different so here is all you would need to know.
Of course when your traveling you need to take a bath, so maybe to your surprise you would have to travel to down town city to take a bath. This may be a hassle but its not just a place to bath, it has many more facilities. This idea of bathing in a large and planned place dates back up in 4BC and is named the
stabian bath.
What is this place?

The place is extremely large which can be confusing but once you get their you'll click quickly just paying an small fee to enter but think of the benefits. They are endless from heated bathrooms, hot rooms, taking a bath to even a swimming pool or excising area!
By confusing we really mean it by looking at the floor plan! Its totally fine after you go their because lovely local people will try to help us all!
Please don't tell me women and men are bathing together!!!

Well the answer to that is NO. There is two different wings to the
stabian baths so there would be a womens' quarter and mens' quarters. There may be some picky people when it comes to the temperature of the bath tub but there is something to cater all of your needs! There was three different types of bath so if you have been cold and need a warm dip go to the
caldarium bath which was a hot bath. But if you just want a normal bath go to the
tepidarium bath which is just a lukewarm temperature. For a cold bath after a hot and sweaty day directly go the the
frigidarium bath which was cold but not too chilly. Often before you hop into the bath they would lathered you in a rich ointment especially before you enter the hot bath and after you exit the hot bath.
Can I have more than a bath?

Yes! There is so many more facilities of course you can have more than just a bath! With the entrance fee it is totally worth it as you can get massages or to scrap off all your dirt of your body. Even to chilling in the swim pool to exercising in the main forum of the whole stabian bath the
Palaestra. Think of it not just like a bath, more like a large bath house! They even had hot rooms where the room was kept at a constant and monitored temperature so after a cold or hot bath you can maintain your temperature to prevent any colds which is extremely important.
